The Power Base
"Chakras are energy vortexes radiating like multicolored wheels along the axis of the spine. Chakra knowledge has existed longer than recorded history, in texts and art from India, Tibet, China, Egypt, Hawaii, parts of Europe, Africa, and North American Indian Tribes. The Hopi Indians compare the axis of the earth to the human spine, and it is said, that a person with the gift of clairvoyance may be able to see all seven Chakras. My first two series of Chakra paintings were inspired from a place deep within my heart - through my love & practice of yoga, and in honor of my Mother, who introduced me to yoga when I was 17. In addition to the powerful symbol of the lotus flower - rainbow colors, geometric forms, nature, sound, crystals, aromas, and energy have always resonated with me. I believe in the existence of seven Chakras, and have always been fascinated by their connection with the human imagination. I plan to use Chakras as inspiration for future work.
